Panel Event on Trade Remedies
23 July 2024, 12:00 - 14:00
Online webinar
Overview
We are delighted to invite you to an insightful panel event on the topic of trade remedies, hosted by DLA Piper. This event promises to be an engaging exploration into how trade remedies defend UK economic interests against unfair international trade practices by investigating international competition that breaches WTO rules on practices like dumping and subsidisation.
Clare Brodie, General Counsel at the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA), will explain the fundamentals of trade remedies and how the TRA balances the UK’s longstanding commitment to open trade while providing a first line of defence for UK producers. Phil Hogan, previous European Commissioner for Agriculture and International Trade, will offer insights into the EU trade remedies landscape and how it may differ from the new UK regime.
We will have a panel discussion to explore a recent dumping and subsidy trade remedies case study, hosted by Phil Hogan, with panellists, Anna Dias and Katherine Newton-McGee. The panel will dissect key aspects of the case and how the TRA undertook the investigation to determine if the measure was in the UK’s economic interest.
The session will include time for your questions to deepen your understanding of trade remedies.
We believe this event will provide invaluable insights for those facing international trading competition.
We look forward to welcoming you to this discussion on trade remedies.
