Canada is the third largest country for video game development in the world after Japan and the US. And the number of creative and development facilities across Canada is growing due to generous government support and a large pool of skilled talent. This makes it an attractive jurisdiction for Japanese companies looking to expand their footprint internationally, set up resources closer to the US, or simply access the talent pool via hiring or acquisition.

Join us for a seminar on investing in Canada's video game industry, featuring Canadian lawyers from DLA Piper's Vancouver office and leaders from the Government of British Columbia and Investment Quebec. Our speakers have a wealth of experience in helping Japanese companies expand into Canada, whether they’re focused on the Canadian market or using it as a springboard to access other jurisdictions.

Ryan Black and Tyson Gratton from our Vancouver office will summarize recent legal developments and regulations in the video game and technology sector in Canada. François Tremblay from our Montréal office will help provide important context for the French-speaking province of Quebec. All three of them are members of the DLA Piper Japan-Canada Group. Speakers from Investment Quebec and Trade and Invest BC will highlight government involvement in attracting investment from outside of Canada, specifically for the gaming industry in Quebec and BC.
