DLA Piper advised Brenntag Specialties, a subsidiary of Brenntag SE, in the closing of its acquisition of Colony Gums, a US-based manufacturer of stabilizer blends and a blending services provider.

Brenntag is a global chemicals and ingredients distributor connecting customers and suppliers of the chemical industry. With more than 17,500 employees across a network of more than 600 sites in 72 countries, Brenntag provides a full-line portfolio of industrial and specialty chemicals and ingredients as well as application, marketing and supply chain solutions for a wide range of industries.

Headquartered in Monroe, North Carolina, Colony Gums has grown into a specialty ingredients supplier and blending services provider with more than 30 employees, servicing customers in North America. In 2022, the company reported annual sales of US$38 million.

Colony Gums will complement Brenntag’s existing product portfolio and services and, as a result of this transaction, expand the chemicals and ingredients company’s offerings in life sciences and nutrition.

“It was a pleasure working with Brenntag’s team, combining our industry knowledge and M&A experience to close this deal,” said Oliver Olah, the DLA Piper partner who led the deal team. “It is a privilege to represent Brenntag, and we look forward to supporting their future growth and continued success,” said DLA Piper partner Brian Boyle.
