Payments Forum - Cyber Legal Assurance

Proactive steps the Payments sector should take before a cyber incident strikes

14 November 2024 | Webinar | 08:30 - 09:30 (GMT)

Cyberattacks are on the increase; oversight and scrutiny are increasing; and so is commercial and legal risk.

This is a global trend resulting in a flurry of new legislation and a renewed appetite by governments and regulatory authorities to step in. As financial services organisations, Payments businesses are attractive targets for cyber criminals, and rapid advancements in sophisticated technologies (such as AI) are being harnessed by threat actors to further increase risks.

In our final Payments Forum of 2024, we will consider:

  • The evolving global cyber legislative landscape and what it means for Payments businesses
  • The paper layer: The need for a playbook and policies to help manage operational and legal responses once a cyber incident occurs
  • The people layer: The need for training of the crisis response team to deal with issues typically encountered during a cyber incident
  • The value of external support, in particular with:
    • Maintaining privilege and your contractual framework with third parties
    • War room and scenario testing
    • Bridging the technological expertise gap between legal teams and cyber security specialists
  • The legal risks and how to balance these against broader commercial risk
  • Lessons-learned from real life experience advising on cyber incidents
