DLA Piper shortlisted for two American Lawyer Industry Awards
DLA Piper is proud to announce the firm has been shortlisted in two American Lawyer 2024 Industry Award categories. The annual awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions made by individuals, law firms and legal departments across various practice areas and specialties.
In the Best Professional Development Initiative category, DLA Piper was shortlisted for developing a training program designed to help newly promoted partners transition more seamlessly to their new role. The two-day “LeaderLab” training uses a customized, computer-based simulation tool to allow new partners to explore multiple client, team and business challenges and better understand the impact of key decisions. The program is unique in its ability to capture the way firm partners must make these decisions under time pressure and with competing goals.
The firm was also shortlisted in the Best Provider Collaboration category, together with UCLA Voting Rights Project, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, ACLU of New Mexico and the Navajo Nation Department of Justice, for the successful resolution of a voting rights lawsuit brought on behalf of the Navajo Nation, the Navajo Nation Human Rights Commission and individual Navajo voters in San Juan County, New Mexico. The county agreed to settle the lawsuit by enacting a redistricting map that ensures a more equitable distribution of the Navajo population, and in March 2024, the settlement agreement was approved.
Winners will be announced at this year’s American Lawyer Industry Awards ceremony in New York on November 13.
