Sarah Bode joined the Toronto office as an associate in 2011, after articling with the firm. Sarah has a corporate/commercial practice focussed on mergers and acquisitions; closed-ended private investment funds, structuring and reorganization; private company corporate governance; exemption registrations and exempt offerings; secured finance; foreign investments in Canada, and opening and doing business in Canada; and contractual relationships generally.
Jeffrey Bradshaw has a practice focused on restructuring and insolvency law. He joined the Vancouver office as an associate in 2019, bringing with him extensive experience acting on behalf of financial institutions, creditors, debtors, Trustees and Court-appointed Receivers and Monitors, in all types of proceedings including bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships and corporate restructurings. Jeffrey has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia, including the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal and completed a clerkship with the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Prior to practicing law, Jeffrey served as a senior manager in the non-profit sector for ten years.
Craig Brusnyk joined the Edmonton office as an associate in 2013. Over the past ten years, Craig has built a broad commercial litigation practice. He has extensive experience handling a wide range of matters for clients in the environmental, energy, natural resource, industrial, infrastructure, construction, and transportation sectors. Admitted to practice in Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan, Craig has acted as trial and appellate counsel, participated in mediations and private arbitrations, and appeared before various administrative bodies. Craig also advises and assists businesses with regulatory compliance, investigations, and enforcement proceedings. Prior to law school, Craig studied immunology and infectious disease and worked at the National Microbiology Laboratory.
Antony Cortese joined the Vancouver office as an associate in 2017, after articling with the firm. Antony practises corporate and commercial law, with a focus on private company mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, joint ventures, and corporate finance. He is a trusted advisor to clients operating in a wide range of industries, including forestry, energy, construction, technology, food services, and insurance, regularly assisting them with corporate and commercial matters. Prior to practising law, Antony worked for a technology start-up in the affiliate marketing space. In 2023, he was named an Emerging Leader by The Peak magazine.
Alex Hudson practises commercial and regulatory litigation, access to information and privacy law, and has a strong transportation practice focused on railway matters. Chambers Canada recently recognized Alex’s work as a transportation lawyer by naming him an Associate to Watch in the 2024 edition of their guide. Alex has appeared as counsel at all levels of the British Columbia and Federal courts, and has significant experience using railway shipper remedies to help clients achieve better rail rates and service. Alex has been with the firm since his summer articles in 2012. He is proud to join the partnership as a home-grown associate.
Jamie Mandell joined the Toronto office as an associate in 2015. Jamie practises in the areas of securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate commercial law. She represents both issuers and investment dealers with a variety of matters, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, going public transactions, and corporate mergers and acquisitions. Jamie assists a range of companies that include startups, mid-size companies and large publicly traded companies. Jamie is also actively involved in a program designed for women entrepreneurs through one of Canada’s leading startup incubators, the DMZ.
Jonathon Ward joined the firm as an associate in 2016, after articling with the firm. Jonathon practises throughout Western Canada in all areas of privacy, labour and employment law. Jonathon represents clients before employment standards tribunals, human rights tribunals, privacy commissioners, labour arbitrators, labour boards, workers’ compensation boards, mediators, arbitrators and all levels of Court. He has been recognized as a Rising Star by The Legal 500 Canada for the past three years and as a Stand-Out Lawyer by Thompson Reuters. Jonathon regularly speaks at firm and industry events on topics related to labour and employment law.
