Minimum wage rates increasing in British Columbia

Effective June 1, 2025, the general minimum wage in British Columbia will increase from $17.40 to $17.85 per hour. The minimum wage rate for app-based ride-hailing and delivery services workers will receive the same 2.6 percent increase on the same date.

These increases follow last year’s amendments to the British Columbia Employment Standards Act, which brought in automatic adjustments to minimum wage rates each year based on changes in the annual average Consumer Price Index.

Employers are encouraged to review their payroll practices for minimum wage employees – whether paid on an hourly, salary, commission, or incentive basis – to ensure compliance with the new minimum wage rates by June 1.
