Jason Yao (姚存璞) is an associate in the financial services and corporate group, with a focus on debt and equity financings, and mergers and acquisitions, both domestically and internationally. Based in Vancouver, Jason regularly collaborates with colleagues from other Canadian and global offices on all types of matters.
Jason advises clients across many different sectors on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including corporate financings and refinancings, corporate governance and structuring, corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolutions. Representative transactions include acting for lenders in connection with the project financings for the expansion and establishment of mining and other natural resource projects, and bridge, mezzanine, and project financings for real estate projects.
Jason also regularly assists international clients with the navigation of the legal and business landscapes of Canada, in the process advising on issues ranging from legal principles on contractual obligations, to customary business practices.
Jason is a member of the firm’s China practice group and is actively involved in the Chinese legal and business communities in Vancouver. Prior to joining the firm's Vancouver office as an associate, he was an intern at the firm’s Beijing office, and summered and articled in the Vancouver office.
Born and raised in Beijing, Jason received his business and legal education in Canada and is a native Mandarin and English speaker who assists clients in both languages.
