About

Rutger has been working for more than 40 years as an all-round professional in real estate law in the broadest sense. He advises national and international companies on all their real estate matters and, if in the interest of the client, he is involved in dispute resolutions. His expertise covers project development, construction, transactions and leases in all asset classes.

Rutger began his career at Schut & Grosheide, the predecessor of DLA Piper, in 1982 and has been a partner since 1988 until 1 May 2023. As from that date, Rutger retired from the partnership, but he will remain with DLA Piper as of counsel.

Rutger is the permanent lawyer for major Dutch and international property businesses, including project developers and contractors, property funds, investors, owners, corporate end-users.

Lecturer

Rutger lectured at the Grotius Academy for the specialised post-graduate Property course and also lectured for many years for the Professional Law Training Course. He makes regular contributions to the Cobouw and Bouwrecht legal journals and gives lectures on real estate practice at national and international seminars.
