Rosie is a fully bilingual English-qualified solicitor who advises Chinese and international clients on their cross-border transactions, corporate issues and operations.

Rosie’s ability to bridge the Chinese legal-cultural system and the international common law world is highly valued by clients. She is capable in understanding the requirements of major state-owned enterprises and private companies in outbound transactions, financings, and project operations (especially Sino-International Joint Ventures).

After qualifying as a solicitor in a London firm, Rosie returned to China and worked at the Beijing office of an international firm before she joined DLA Piper.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a power generation state-owned enterprise on a wind power project in Asia by resolving a deadlock situation with local joint-venture partners involving share transfer, land acquisition and project development.
  • Advising a Chinese oil major in its successful defense against contractual and tortious claims in the value of approximately USD5bn brought by its local joint-venture partner in an LCIA arbitration.
  • Advising a Chinese power company on disputes with its local partner in relation to a coal-fire powerplant in Asia.
  • Advising a policy bank on a EUR100m facility to an Eastern European state borrower.
  • Advising a policy bank on a USD200m restructuring and debt recovery matter involving 4 jurisdictions.
  • Acting for a listed Chinese company’s BVI subsidiary in relation to the restructuring of its USD Bonds listed on the HKEx.
  • Acting for joint provisional liquidators of a Chinese company listed in Nasdaq on regulatory matters and possible restructuring.
  • Assisting a state-owned enterprise in the acquisition of a mining company listed on the London Stock Exchange.
