DLA Piper advises Lucanet on acquisition of financial planning and analysis platform Causal

DLA Piper has advised Lucanet, a leading global provider of end-to-end CFO software solutions based in Berlin, on the acquisition of Causal, a key innovator in the financial planning and analysis market. This acquisition strengthens Lucanet’s market position by expanding the range of core solutions in its CFO Solution Platform to include Extended Planning and Analysis (xP&A).

The introduction of Causal into Lucanet’s suite of solutions directly addresses the market need for seamless operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning. This strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to streamlining financial processes across the most critical CFO functions. Causal’s flexible out-of-the-box solution will integrate with Lucanet’s CFO Solution Platform, adding to the existing purpose-built solutions for financial consolidation & planning, disclosure management including ESG reporting, lease accounting, treasury and tax management. This represents the third acquisition in the last two years from Lucanet, as the platform continues its focus on enhancing its market reach and solutions.

A cross-border and multi-practice team from offices in Germany, the UK and the US worked on the transaction and was led by partner Simon Vogel (Corporate/Private Equity, Munich). In Germany, the team also comprised counsel Marcel Nurk and senior associate Aleksandra Lis-Rychlinska (both Corporate/Private Equity, Munich).
