Tom has been involved in some of the most high-profile class action and mass litigation disputes in the Netherlands.

Tom further advises and litigates on all sorts of corporate disputes, including corporate inquiry proceedings (enquêteprocedures), shareholder disputes, directors' liability litigation and post-M&A disputes.

Tom regularly publicises articles for legal journals in the field of corporate and class action litigation and is an editor of the Dutch corporate law journal ARO.

  • Bayer – defending Bayer in a Dutch high-profile and high-stakes class action initiated against it on behalf of 30,000 consumers alleging the defectiveness of Bayer's birth control device Essure.
  • Steinhoff – representing the former chairman of the supervisory board and former major shareholder of the Steinhoff Group in several multibillion mass litigation matters against him after the demise of the Steinhoff Group as a result of an accounting scandal.
  • AkzoNobel – shareholders dispute regarding the strategy of a Dutch listed, global paints and chemicals business, as well as the intended divestment of its chemicals division.
  • TMG – acting for the board of directors in the bidding war and corporate inquiry proceedings (enquêteprocedure) on level playing field of Telegraaf Media Groep, a Dutch listed media conglomerate.
  • AbbVie – acting for the pharmaceutical group AbbVie in Dutch multibillion euro class action proceedings initiated against it on behalf of 60,000 consumers in relation to allegedly defective breast implants.
  • Imtech – acting for the former CEO in various mass litigation claims regarding fraud allegations within the organisation and its subsequent insolvency.
  • Fortuna – minority shareholder protection litigation (enquêteprocedure) regarding a Czech listed betting business.
  • SNS REAAL – acting for former Board members regarding litigation and investigations following Dutch State intervention in and nationalisation of a bank/insurer.
  • Acting for a global provider of trust services in a USD 600 million directors' liability matter.
  • Advising a large Dutch bank on class action proceedings threatened against it, alleging a violation of a perceived duty of care by allowing a EUR 50 million ponzi scheme to occur over its bank accounts.
  • Representing an international retailer in class action proceedings threatened against it for allegedly violating mandatory consumer protection regulations.
