DLA Piper advises T-Mobile in its acquisition of Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile for up to US$1.35 billion
DLA Piper is serving as regulatory counsel to T-Mobile US, Inc. in its acquisition of Ka’ena Corporation and its subsidiaries and wireless brands: Mint Mobile – the budget-friendly mobile carrier partially owned by actor Ryan Reynolds – and Ultra Mobile. Both of these Mobile Virtual Network Operators operate exclusively on the T-Mobile network.
Under the deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals, T-Mobile will pay up to a maximum of US$1.35 billion in a combination of 39 percent cash and 61 percent stock to acquire 100 percent of Ka’ena and its subsidiaries.
The leading wireless provider will acquire the brands' sales, marketing, digital and service operations. Through the transaction, T-Mobile plans to leverage its supplier relationships and distribution scale to help the brands to grow and offer competitive pricing and greater device inventory to more US consumers seeking value offerings.
