DLA Piper advises InstarAGF in its acquisition of LS Networks

DLA Piper represented InstarAGF Asset Management Inc. in its definitive agreement to acquire LS Networks, a Portland, Oregon-based leading fiber-optic bandwidth infrastructure services provider.

InstarAGF is an independent alternative asset management firm focused on North America middle-market opportunities in the infrastructure sector and other alternative real asset categories. Its growing footprint spans North America with a portfolio that includes aviation infrastructure, district energy, renewable energy, midstream energy services, and specialty ports and logistics businesses.

“We brought together a strong multi-disciplinary team with extensive experience advising on communications and infrastructure sector transactions to support InstarAGF in this acquisition, which will extend competitive fiber connectivity and advanced technologies throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said Marc Samuel, the DLA Piper partner who led the firm’s deal team. “It has been a pleasure to assist InstarAGF on another successful transaction,” added Jay Tannon, the DLA Piper relationship partner for InstarAGF.

In addition to Samuel and Tannon (both of Washington, DC), the DLA Piper team representing InstarAGF included associates Erin Tripathi (Baltimore) and Dana Zelman (Washington, DC). Partner support came from Michael Hazzard, Nancy Victory and Julia Kovacs (all of Washington, DC), Kristin Jacobson (Sacramento), Jordan Bailowitz (Baltimore), Jeffrey Salinger (New York), Cathryn Le Regulski (Northern Virginia) and Jim Anderson (Silicon Valley), among others.

The firm has been rated number one in global M&A volume for ten consecutive years, according to Mergermarket. The firm’s Private Equity practice includes more than 100 US lawyers who provide strategic counsel to private equity funds and the industry-leading companies they invest in. In 2019, Pitchbook recognized DLA Piper as the second most active private equity law firm globally, further solidifying the strength of the firm’s team and its depth of experience executing private equity transactions.

DLA Piper’s Infrastructure, Construction and Transport sector brings together a range of practitioners who understand both the infrastructure sector and the requirements of financial investors. As a result, the firm is able to proactively support infrastructure funds, providing pragmatic legal advice to deliver ongoing and sustained success.
