REPRESENTATIVE TRANSACTIONS
  • Counsels Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization on sale and repurposing of iconic Pennsylvania Avenue museum into educational space for University use
  • Primary responsibility for advising several US based real estate investors and developers on the acquisition and redevelopment of significant office projects in Washington, DC, suburban Maryland, Northern Virginia, including the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and Tysons areas
  • Represents US based real estate investors and developers on the acquisition and sale of residential, mixed-use and retail properties in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, suburban Maryland and around the United States
  • Primary responsibility for advising real estate management company on sale of multi-property portfolios across the eastern United States
  • Represented German real estate investor on the acquisition, development and leasing of several hotels, including the 225 key "Thompson Hotel" in Washington, DC, a 240 key boutique luxury hotel in Boston, the 450 key "LondonHouse Hotel" full-service luxury franchised hotel in Chicago, a 317 key limited service franchised hotel in downtown Manhattan, a 220 key limited service franchised hotel in Seattle and a joint Hyatt House / Hyatt Place in Charleston, South Carolina
  • Represented Swiss real estate investor and manager on the acquisition and financing of a US$100 million trophy mixed office and retail property in Washington, DC
  • Represented German real estate investor and manager in acquisition of private REIT holding in excess of US$400 million in office assets in Houston, Texas
  • Represented private equity fund investor in the US$60 million sale of a franchised hotel in suburban Chicago, Illinois
  • Represented US and offshore clients on the sale of student housing projects throughout the United States
  • Represented many clients on the acquisition and financing of Class A office buildings in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, California, Austin, Texas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Several of these properties were leased to the US Government and various agencies

Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Keith worked as a judicial intern in the Chambers of the Honorable John F. Keenan in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York and for the New York City Law Department, where he represented New York City on various matters relating to its multi-billion dollar pension funds. Keith also previously worked as an associate at a major law firm, focusing on real estate, borrower-side debt financing and corporate merger and acquisition transactions.
