DLA Piper advises SENCO Hydrogen Capital on equity investment in pipeline innovator Strohm

DLA Piper has advised SENCO Hydrogen Capital (SENCO) on a EUR20 million equity investment in Strohm B.V. (Strohm). Strohm is a Dutch company specialising in the development and manufacture of innovative pipelines for the conventional and renewable energy sectors and is a pioneer in the development of thermoplastic composite pipelines. The company aims to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in the pipeline infrastructure sector.

SENCO, a German private equity firm, specialises in investments in the hydrogen space. The company's investment in Strohm marks a milestone for both companies and underlines their commitment to a more sustainable and future-proofed energy supply as well as the high growth momentum of supplier companies for the energy transition. SENCO is the lead investor alongside existing shareholders who were also involved in the capital increase of EUR30 million in total.

In 2023, a DLA Piper team led by partner Andreas Füchsel already advised the Prime Standard-listed investment holding exceet on a business combination with APEX Group, showcasing the team’s experience and commitment to the hydrogen sector. APEX is a leading developer, builder and operator of green hydrogen electrolysis plants for the decarbonization of industry and infrastructure.

The DLA Piper team on this transaction was led by a team of private equity lawyers from The Netherlands and Germany including partner Jochem Beurskens, counsel Stefan Spaans, associate Gabriël Alting Siberg (all Private Equity, Amsterdam) as well as partner Andreas Füchsel and senior associate Philipp Meyer (both Private Equity, Frankfurt).
