DLA Piper bolsters Financial Services capability

DLA Piper welcomes Adrianus Schoorl back to its Middle East team, further strengthening our Middle East Financial Services practice. With a distinguished career spanning several decades, Adrianus brings a wealth of global and regional knowledge in traditional financial services, virtual assets, data regulation, and fintech to the team. He will collaborate closely with the firm’s technology, corporate, finance and regulatory/investigations teams, enhancing the capabilities and value delivered to clients.

His specialization lies in financial services and payments, with a focus on licensing strategies, compliance, capital raising and governance as well as navigating regulatory frameworks and his key clients include leading fintech, traditional financial services and private equity funds. Additionally, he is well-versed in data regulation, including GDPR and its MENA counterparts, as well as financial technology-related matters such as e-commerce and crypto. Previously, Adrianus held key roles at prominent white-shoe and magic circle law firms, where he built and led successful financial services practices.

Adrianus’ career highlights include four years working as a financial services regulator across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. He also spent time in-house with a global fintech.
