Shaun is an experienced, high-calibre professional who has been advising clients for over 20 years on sustainability and ESG matters. Shaun is Head of the Sustainability and ESG team in the UK and Europe for DLA Piper Business Advisory.

Having advised on a broad range of ESG areas, Shaun’s particular focus encompasses three key themes - sustainable finance, climate change and independent assurance of ESG disclosures. As well as these areas, Shaun is experienced in working with clients on ESG and climate disclosures, product claims, ESG ratings and has provided training to executive teams on a broad range of ESG related topics.

Shaun has significant experience working with multinational corporates, including many of the FTSE 100 across multiple sectors, such as professional services, manufacturing, O&G, mining, Construction, ICT and public sector. Shaun has in-depth knowledge of global and regional sustainability reporting standards (e.g. CSRD, GRI, SASB Standards, ESG Indices & Ratings) and verification/assurance standards ensuring the implementation of sustainability and ESG best practice.

Education

    Prior Experience

    • Sustainable Finance - undertaken over 100 Second Party Opinions within the labelled debt market, designed green and transition finance taxonomies for financial institutions, advised on disclosures for the EU taxonomy for sustainable activities and designed and rolled out CSRD maturity assessments and corporate training.
    • Climate Change - reviewing corporate net zero, decarbonization and/or transition strategies, undertaking product claims assessment e.g. carbon neutral, green, low carbon and supported firms on their carbon (scope 1, 2 and 3) reporting and disclosures.
    • ESG Assurance Projects – Led on over 90 ESG assurance projects as a trained lead auditor / project director, as well as ESG disclosure assessments.
