Derek Kurrant is member of the Tax Group and has a wealth of experience in the many areas of tax law that affect public companies and private enterprises.

As a lawyer and a chartered accountant, he has practised exclusively in the area of taxation for over 25 years providing tax advice on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, including corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions; structuring of public debt and equity offerings; the purchase and sale of businesses, and the use of partnerships, joint ventures and trusts. He regularly provides tax ‎advice on international and cross-border planning matters, including advising Canadian businesses looking ‎to expand to foreign jurisdictions and advising multinational enterprises seeking to establish, acquire or ‎dispose of businesses in Canada‎.

Derek has significant experience providing tax structuring and transactional advice on various energy-based projects including in the oil and gas and ‎renewable energy sectors.
