DLA Piper advises Francotyp-Postalia on the sale of freesort GmbH

DLA Piper has advised Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG (FP) on the sale of all shares in freesort GmbH. The buyer is an Austrian investor.

With the sale of freesort GmbH, the FP Group is focusing on the business areas of Mailing & Shipping Solutions and Digital Business Solutions and intends to proceed with its transformation.

freesort GmbH comprises the Mail Services segment and offers franking and downstream access services for outgoing mail for business customers. In 2023, freesort GmbH generated revenue of EUR66.8 million.

The stock-listed Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG, headquartered in Berlin, is the holding company of the globally operating FP Group. FP is an expert in providing solutions that make office and work processes more efficient, with its Mailing & Shipping Solutions and Digital Business Solutions business segments. FP is represented in 15 countries with its own subsidiaries and in many other countries through a distribution network.

DLA Piper previously advised FP in 2022 on the acquisition of an international group of companies specialising in the distribution of hardware for mail processing and software for asset tracking and parcel shipping. The advice was led by corporate/M&A partner Dr Mathias Schulze Steinen.

The FP team was led by Dr Kai Fliegner (Head of Legal), Thomas Goslich (Head of M&A), Oxana Erbis (Head of Treasury) and Raphael Hausen (Head of Group Accounting).
