Richard is heading the Dutch Data, Privacy and Cyber Security Team. He brings over 20 years’ experience in advising clients on all legal aspects of the use of data. More in particular, he assists his clients to comply with GDPR, to respond to data breaches and cyber attacks and to implement governance frameworks to manage privacy risk on a global basis.
Also, Richard has a proven track record in successfully helping clients rolling out their global data compliance programs. He is renowned for bringing a practical, risk-based approach and for providing creative and out-of-the box solutions to complex privacy matters.
His clients operate principally in the consumer goods & retail, media & entertainment, technology and health sectors, where data driven solutions are increasingly critical to securing effective operational outcomes. He has acted for international sport brands, media brands, retailers and health care providers.
In addition, Richard has specific experience in advertising law with a specific expertise in greenwashing claims. He has obtained many landmark decisions and has been involved in a great number of litigation procedures at every court level in the Netherlands and at the Advertising Code Committee.
Richard is a board member of the bvA Bond van adverteerders (Dutch Advertisers Association) and of NL Sporter (Dutch Athlete Associations).
