John Cusack has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate and finance law. He focuses his practice on the structuring and formation of private investment vehicles and their management companies.
As the Global Co-Chair and co-founder of DLA Piper’s Investment Funds practice, John advises clients on the full spectrum of private investment funds, major investment strategies and all stages of a private investment fund’s life cycle. In his role as Global Co-Chair of the Finance group, he has extensive experience representing sponsors of private equity funds in their internal and external matters. John also represents those firms in a variety of corporate transactions, including capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Drawing on his extensive experience, John helps to shape DLA Piper’s strategy through his service on several internal leadership committees and provides critical input with respect to partner recruiting, elevating the firm’s talent acquisition initiatives.
John’s clients cover a wide range of sectors, including real estate, debt, infrastructure, buy-out, energy and growth opportunities. He represents fund clients in their underlying investment and financing activities, and he also represents clients in the formation of portfolio and other operating companies, as well as in joint ventures, co-investments, and other structured investment activities. other structured investment activities.
