DLA Piper provides employment law advice to Tourism Authority of Thailand, spanning 22 jurisdictions

DLA Piper has worked along with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to provide advice on employment law and regulatory compliance across multiple regions, covering 22 jurisdictions in the Americas, Africa, Europe and Southeast Asia. Specifically, we assisted TAT in developing standard employment guidance for its overseas operations. Our employment advice covers the classification of employees, foreign employees, employment benefits, retirement and termination in each jurisdiction.

Recognising the importance of tourism to Thailand, the Thai government first established a dedicated tourism organisation in 1960. TAT has since spent more than half a century promoting Thailand's tourism, encouraging both Thai and international tourists to travel in and around Thailand. It's current strategy focuses on driving experience-based and sustainable tourism. Tourism contributes a significant amount to Thailand's GDP, which is expected to increase over the coming years.

Headquartered in Bangkok, TAT has 45 regional offices in Thailand and 29 offices across the world.

The team was led by Komson Suntheeraporn, Head of the Employment practice in Thailand. He was supported by senior associate Parada Saibua and associate Natnicha Nakhwan.

Komson commented: “It is a pleasure to support TAT with the employment aspects of its organisation. TAT is an important government organisation which plays a critical role in promoting Thailand's flourishing tourism industry, as well as protecting the environment."
