DLA Piper Canada advised Key Carbon on US$28 million in carbon credit financings

DLA Piper Canada has recently advised Key Carbon in its carbon credit financings with Cartesian Capital Group and Marex Group Plc (Nasdaq: MRX). As a leading carbon financier, Key Carbon creates strategic partnerships with high-quality project developers and provides them with direct financing and operational support.

Inclusive of the financings described above, Key Carbon will have funded over 1.5 million biomass-fuelled cookstoves across 8 countries in Africa, improving the lives of an estimated 7.5 million people. These highly efficient cookstoves, along with other projects funded by Key Carbon, are expected to avoid or remove more than 46 million tonnes of carbon dioxide or CO2 equivalent.

You can read more about the financings with Cartesian Sustainable Finance 1, LLC and Marex Group Plc in the press releases here and here.

The DLA Piper team advising Key Carbon in these transactions was led by Jennifer Poirier and Denis Silva and included Jennifer Cleall, K.C., Douglas G. Shields and Beatriz Albuquerque.
