David Farkas and Scott Layfield named to Los Angeles Business Journal’s Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their 40s list
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that David Farkas and Scott Layfield have been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2022 Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their 40s list, which recognizes leading Los Angeles-based professionals across a number of industries.
Farkas is an experienced litigator who has represented a diverse group of clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, in high-stakes commercial litigation in state and federal courts and arbitrations throughout the country. He assists clients in navigating all stages of litigation, from initial pleadings through trial and appeal. A significant portion of his practice focuses on class action defense, and he has successfully defended several dozen class actions, including cases brought under California’s False Advertising Law, Consumer Legal Remedies Act, Unruh Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the California Invasion of Privacy Law.
Layfield advises on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, initial and secondary public offerings, private placement financings, venture transactions, strategic licensing, commercial negotiations, corporate governance and other significant corporate matters both domestically and abroad. He has extensive experience in distressed transactions both in and out of bankruptcy. His practice focuses on consumer facing brands across a range of industries involving retail, e-commerce, media, entertainment, fashion and food and beverage. He regularly advises clients on the strategic aspects of international matters from cross-border transactions to global expansion initiatives across Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
