DLA Piper expands its Real Estate Practice in key markets with the addition of partners Dennis Kiely and Heather Horowitz in New York and Of Counsel Alex Kaplan in Washington, DC
The addition of Kiely, Horowitz and Kaplan is part of the Firm’s commitment to expanding its industry-leading real estate practice in key markets.
“Dennis, Heather and Alex are highly skilled real estate lawyers with sophisticated practices who will add great value to our clients throughout the US and around the world,” said John Sullivan, chair of the US Real Estate practice.
Kiely focuses on the acquisition, disposition, financing, joint venturing, leasing and development of domestic and international real estate interests, with a significant portion of his practice involving advising investors from South Korea. He frequently represents domestic and international corporations, funds, real estate investment trusts, insurance companies, commercial and investment banks, non-bank lenders and private developers. His debt and equity transaction experience spans a variety of sectors, including hospitality, office, retail, multifamily, industrial, telecommunications, sports and specialty real estate.
Horowitz has over 20 years of experience focusing her practice on lender-side finance in large real estate loans. She advises investment banks, private equity funds and other institutional lenders in the acquisition, origination, disposition and restructuring of mortgage and mezzanine construction, bridge, balance sheet and securitized loans secured by various asset classes throughout North America.
Kaplan has extensive experience representing domestic and cross-border investors acquiring fee, equity, and mortgage and mezzanine debt interests in trophy office, industrial, multifamily, and retail properties.
“Dennis, Heather and Alex have market-leading practices that fit perfectly into our national and global real estate platform,” said Cara Edwards, Managing Parter of DLA Piper’s New York office.
