Sean is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Arbitration team based in London. Sean focuses his practice on international arbitration and cross-border litigation and has acted on disputes for international companies, funds, financial institutions and governments with a particular focus on energy and natural resources, technology and financial services. Sean has represented clients before leading arbitration institutions such as the LCIA, ICC and AAA as well as in proceedings before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Courts of England and Wales.

  • Acting for Standard Chartered Bank in English proceedings arising from the project financing of a gas-fuelled power plant in Tanzania obtaining summary judgment in the sum of US$ 168 million
  • Representing a Central Asian oil services company in an LCIA arbitration relating to the construction of a US$ 180 million drilling rig
  • Acting for an East African mining company in adjudication proceedings against an international mining company concerning a breach of a prospecting agreement worth over US$ 700 million
  • Acting for a French financial institution in High Court proceedings arising from losses in commercial mortgage backed securities worth over US$ 300 million
  • Acting for a European bank in enforcement proceedings relating to a €3.2 billion freezing order arising from a complex fraud which resulted in a well-known bank entering administration
  • Acting for a Silicon-Valley based software company in AAA arbitration proceedings relating to the protection of intellectual property with an estimated value of US$ 3 billion
