Neil Macdonald advises on the development, financing, acquisition and disposal of energy and natural resources projects. He has extensive experience assisting clients in the LNG and oil and gas sectors.
Neil advises across the LNG supply chain, including upstream development, LNG vessel procurement, chartering and construction, liquefaction and regasification terminal development (both floating and land-based), LNG sales and downstream gas sales and transport.
Neil has significant upstream project and M&A experience, having advised on assets in Africa, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Neil also has considerable experience of other upstream, midstream and downstream petroleum projects, and of mining and power projects.
EXPERIENCE
Höegh LNG on the development and limited recourse financing of floating LNG terminal facilities offshore Lampung, Indonesia, including a new-build floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), mooring, pipeline systems and onshore receiving facilities – the first limited recourse financing of an FSRU in the region.
PT Nusantara Regas on: development of South-East Asia's first floating LNG receiving terminal, including an FSRU and mooring located in Jakarta Bay, subsea/onshore pipeline and onshore receiving facilities; the charter of LNG carriers; LNG supply; and multi-user terminal use arrangements.
A European energy company on development of a floating LNG liquefaction project offshore Western Australia, including drafting and negotiations of FEED and EPCIC arrangements.
An Asian energy company on: preparation of its standard form LNG MSA and long-term SPA; HOAs, MSAs and SPAs with multiple LNG sellers; multi-user terminal use arrangements; and downstream gas sales and transport arrangements.
A European energy company on the long-term purchase of LNG from several Gulf Coast LNG projects.
Terms for development of LNG terminals in: Croatia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Pakistan, North America and Vietnam.
LNG sale and purchase agreements with buyers and sellers in Australia, France, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, the United States of America.
Medco Energi on its USD1.355bn acquisition from ConocoPhillips of a 54 per cent. operating interest in the Corridor Block and a 35 per cent. interest in Transasia Pipeline Company, operator of the Grissik-Duri and Grissik-Singapore pipeline systems – 2022 Energy Council Deal of the Year for Asia Pacific.
Medco Energi on its acquisition from ConocoPhillips of a 40 per cent. operating interest in the South Natuna Sea Block B PSC and the West Natuna Transportation System – 2016 Oil Council Deal of the Year for Asia Pacific.
A US chemicals producer on development of its USD1bn+ facilities in Shanghai, China, including advising on gas purchase, commodity sales and port handling and storage arrangements.
