About

Maurício focuses his practice in Brazilian labor and social security law, particularly with regard to collective labor matters and union relations. He advises clients on issues involving negotiations and collective matters, as in the negotiation of Profit Sharing Plans, collective bargaining agreements, roundtables, strikes, collective dismissal, restructuring process, mediations and labor disputes involving unions and labor authorities. He also provides legal advice on employment matters, immigration and outsourcing structures.

Mauricio's client list is extensive, and includes leading companies in energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, maritime and technology.

In addition to providing legal representation, Mauricio teaches "Complex Negotiation Strategies" to post-graduate and MBA students at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, and is a visiting professor at Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT), Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Hong Kong University. He lectures on complex negotiations in Latin America.

Prior Experience

Experience as corporate counsel and human resource consultant for companies of a telecommunication multinational group, working extensively, as in-house counsel, focusing on union and labor affairs, labor litigation, social security affairs, outsourcing and consultant contracts, involved in the strategy and operations of the group businesses. Practice ranges from development and implementation of commercial, marketing and human resources projects - with particular emphasis compensation policies, training and development process, organizational structures and outsourcing of commercial, marketing and technical activities.

  • Coordinator for the execution of collective bargaining agreements with the Union of employees of all Telecom Italia Group companies in Brazil.
  • Responsible for the management of the union and labor affairs for TIM Brazil companies.
  • Developing, structuring, negotiating and implementing contractual transactions, participating as legal advisor in all types of projects.
  • Responsible for the management of the budget planning and control function of the TIM Brazil union and labor affairs area.
