About

Randy Omid focuses his practice on US and foreign patent protection for large established companies and startup companies. He applies his prior experience as a senior engineer to advise clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including matters related to patent preparation and prosecution, reexamination, licensing, infringement, trade secrets, acquisitions and competitive analysis.

Randy has extensive experience in the strategic planning, development and management of global IP portfolios tailored to individual clients' business needs. For startups, he builds patent portfolios that attract venture funding and deters competitors from asserting patent infringement. For established companies, Randy collaborates with foreign counsel to secure patents across the world, including in Australia, China, Germany, India, Japan, Korea and the UK.

Randy has experience in a range of technologies, including software systems and processes, electronic circuits, mechanical devices and medical devices. He represents companies in consumer electronics, multimedia distribution systems, payment networks, internet-based technologies and network architecture.

Randy also has vast experience in post-grant proceedings, such as ex parte reexaminations, and in conducting oral arguments in appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
