Sandra Esquiva-Hesse has been practicing for over 20 years. She has built up a strong experience with clients including international companies (mainly mid and large-cap companies), entrepreneurs, investors or financial institutions in their corporate, financing, structuring or restructuring (carve-out, special situations, distress M&A), out-of-court work-out, insolvency and liquidation proceedings operations, and related dispute resolution and litigation. She has significant experience in multinational transactions and litigations.

  • Advising a leading UK headquartered industrial group with fast-paced audit and acquisition bid of distressed industrial plants in France within an in-bankruptcy-court sale auction process 
  • Advised the liquidator within the largest liquidation incurred within its jurisdiction including 25 jurisdictions and coordinated with such liquidator local attorney, divestiture of French affiliated branch and coordinated a cross-border restructuring team to cover other jurisdictions  
  • Advised a major Pharma player with risk assessment and contingency planning of supply chain risk exposure to distressed supplier with little alternative supply options  
  • Advised a UK based financial institution provider of derivatives product in relation to the debt restructuring a world leader in international trading and distribution of polymers, with a non-aligned financial exposure within such debtor financial institutions group and continuity of services to third party acquirer of business units of such debtor 
  • Advised a major US headquartered retailer with the closure of its stores and implemented a French court homologated sale plan to a third-party group and supported a cross-border franchise agreement to such third party
  • Advised a publicly traded on the NYSE tier I automotive manufacturer, with the closure and redundancy plan of its French plant, with alternative divestiture, redeployment, sale and disposal of assets to third parties and redeployment, and global restructuring assessment and strategy.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Sandra has worked in international law firms US and UK headquartered, before and after founding her own firm, which was absorbed by a French Law firm in 2016.

Memberships and Affiliations

Sandra Esquiva-Hesse is a member of several professional associations. She co-founded the French Forum of International Women Forum and is the current President of IWFF. She is also a member of IFPPC, AFFIC, ARE and the French American Foundation. She is Trustee of the Hertford British Hospital Charity.
