DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomes five additions to the partnership, effective January 1, 2025.

Bill de Jong is a partner in the Securities and Capital Markets group, whose practice focuses on corporate finance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and general corporate matters. Bill acts for both issuers and dealers in public and private, domestic and cross-border, debt and equity corporate finance transactions. He also works for vendors and purchasers in public and private M&A transactions. Bill has extensive board involvement as a director for multiple public, private and not-for-profit entities, as well as experience advising special committees of boards and acting as independent counsel in a variety of circumstances. Bill has been recognized in the Securities Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law categories by Best Lawyers in Canada in each of the last three years, among other notable industry awards and publications.

Michal Kasprowicz joined the firm in 2016 as an associate in our Intellectual Property group. Mike’s practice specializes in high-tech intellectual property and telecommunications regulatory law. With a background in electrical engineering, he helps clients navigate Canada's evolving telecom regulations. His expertise includes service and spectrum licensing and equipment authorizations. Mike has also represented clients in all stages of IP litigation, from pre-litigation to appeals, and is a registered patent and trademark agent. He has also taught intellectual property courses at the University of Windsor. For his expertise in intellectual property law, Mike has been recognized as a Rising Star by Managing Intellectual Property and The Legal 500 and as One to Watch by Best Lawyers in Canada.

Carly Meredith is an employment and data privacy lawyer. Her employment practice covers all aspects of management-side employment matters, including contract and policy reviews, the implementation of labour standards and representing clients in related litigation. She also has extensive experience advising on employment considerations and strategy in the context of complex M&A transactions. Carly’s privacy practice consists of advising clients on the application of data privacy legislation in the province of Québec, including in connection with data breaches, regulatory reporting requirements, and providing specialized counseling in privacy-related class actions.

Christopher Pejovic joined the Toronto office in 2018, after articling with the firm.‎ Chris maintains a corporate and securities/capital markets law practice with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate ‎finance, and private equity and venture capital matters.‎ Chris regularly advises clients based in Canada and abroad in all aspects of corporate and ‎securities law, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, public ‎offerings and private placement financings. Chris also supports emerging companies across diverse industries with seed and early-stage venture capital financings.‎ Chris regularly represents clients on transactions recognized by Lexpert as Top Deals. Chris is also the co-author of a series of articles aimed at assisting ‎growing businesses better understand the life cycle of a deal.‎

Struan Robertson has a general employment, labour law and commercial litigation practice, with a particular focus on ‎litigation involving the workplace. Struan’s practice includes the ‎representation of management in various aspects of the employment relationship. He ‎regularly acts for employers in contentious employment litigation, including where injunctive relief is ‎required.‎ Struan also has a commercial litigation practice concentrated on shareholder disputes, commercial tenancies, as well as environmental, and real estate disputes. Struan often assists clients in foreign jurisdictions with obtaining evidence through the letters rogatory process and enforcement of foreign judgments in British Columbia.
