DLA Piper adds Elizabeth Burkhard as technology transactions partner
DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Boston-based partner Elizabeth Burkhard to the firm’s Technology, Sourcing and Commercial subgroup within the Corporate practice group.
Burkhard focuses her practice on transactional matters in the areas of technology transactions, intellectual property (IP) licensing, IP, technology and commercial due diligence for corporate transactions, electronic commerce and information technology (IT), and IT outsourcing for financial institutions.
She routinely advises clients on a variety of IP and IT matters, particularly in connection with mergers and acquisitions transactions and financing transactions, including conducting due diligence and negotiating IP terms related to ownership and licensing of IP, software development and integration, open-source software issues and IT transition assistance matters. Burkhard also advises clients in connection with IP licenses, IT outsourcing transactions, electronic contracting, as well as contract issues related to regulatory compliance.
Some of her notable experience includes conducting due diligence and negotiating the IP terms of a large publisher’s acquisition of the IP portfolio of a prominent children’s artist; negotiating representations and warranties in connection with a US$650 million transaction involving global locations and IP; and representing a leading international manufacturer of toys and games and trademark licensor in connection with widely publicized trademark, copyright and character licensing transaction with an online social gaming service provider.
