Clodagh is an employment lawyer with a range of experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious HR matters. Clodagh acts for a variety of clients at all stages of the employment tribunal process including claims for discrimination, unfair dismissal and whistleblowing. Clodagh also routinely advises on day-to-day matters including drafting and negotiating key contractual and policy documents, settlement negotiations and board of directors' matters.
Additionally, having previously practised as an M&A lawyer at DLA Piper for three years, Clodagh has strong familiarity of corporate transactions and investments and regularly supports and advises on domestic and multi-jurisdictional deals to include legal due diligence projects and advising on TUPE processes.
Clodagh works across a number of sectors including hospitality and leisure and consumer goods, food and retail, and regularly advises on cross-border projects alongside colleagues from across the international DLA Piper network.
Whilst completing her legal training with DLA Piper, Clodagh was remotely seconded to the group legal team at Merlin Entertainments Limited for six months in 2020. Clients have described Clodagh as a “phenomenal help” and have testified that she is not “afraid or unwilling to roll up her sleeves and get stuck in”.
Clodagh is an active participant of DLA Piper’s pro bono practice and enjoys helping eligible youths from low-income backgrounds obtain British citizenship as part of DLA Piper’s partnership with Kids in Need of Defense UK.
Clodagh also champions DLA Piper’s social mobility agenda and leads DLA Piper’s Head Start UK programme in the Birmingham office. The programme aims to provide holistic support to talented and ambitious scholars from underrepresented and lower socio-economic backgrounds, to help develop peer and professional networks and define educational and professional goals when seeking to enter the legal profession.

- Advising private investment firm, Starwood Capital Group, on its disposals of the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Bath, UK and the Hilton Hotel in Belfast to Swedish-listed hotel property owner, Pandox AB, each for GBP40 million in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
- Advising the individual shareholders of Greencoat Limited, a leading animal supplements business, on its sale to AB Agri Limited (part of Associated British Foods plc) for an undisclosed sum in July 2022. The sale included the NAF, NutriLabs, Natural VetCare and Greencoat Farm brands.
- Advising international biopharmaceutical company, Intercept Pharmaceuticals, in its deal to sublicense the rights to commercialise Ocaliva® (obeticholic acid) outside of the US to Advanz Pharma, and sell certain of its European subsidiaries and rights regarding its overseas operations in May 2022 for circa USD450m.
