DLA Piper welcomes Gregory Casas as a partner in the White Collar, Investigations, and Government Enforcement Practice

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Gregory Casas as a partner in the White Collar, Investigations, & Government Enforcement Practice. He will be based in the Austin office.

Casas focuses his practice on antitrust and complex business litigation. He has extensive experience in antitrust litigation, class action defense, commercial disputes, and international dispute resolution in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. Casas has handled cases involving price-fixing, bid rigging, and market allocation claims, and he has provided counsel on DOJ/FTC investigations, joint venture formation, AI and algorithmic software, ESG initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, pricing strategies, and other contractual matters. Casas has also served as lead counsel in multiple sophisticated matters including multi-district litigation, complex commercial class actions, and other antitrust cases.

Notable examples of his litigation background include defending a nationwide property management company against claims of antitrust violations; advising a nationwide grocery chain in class actions and other commercial cases ranging from weights and measures disputes to wage and bonus disputes, among others; counseling an insurer against alleged group boycott claims; and prosecuting Section 2 Sherman Act claims against an alleged monopolist in the fire insurance map market.

Casas also counsels companies on the use of AI and other algorithmic software in order to limit antitrust risks that may arise in real estate, manufacturing, and retail industries. He provides antitrust advice regarding pricing programs and Robinson Patman Act related issues, and represents companies in the energy sector in litigation regarding the interpretation of power purchase agreements and breach of purchase and sale agreements.

“Greg is a nationally recognized business litigator whose practice not only encompasses a wide range of industries, but also the type of high-stakes matters he manages on behalf of clients,” said John Hamill, Chair of the US Antitrust & Competition Group.

“We are thrilled to welcome Greg to the firm. His addition will enhance our competitiveness and strengthen our complex litigation presence in Texas and beyond,” said Joseph Fore, Managing Partner of DLA Piper’s Austin office.
