Daniel Jones

About

Daniel is an associate in DLA Piper's Global Trade and Government Affairs team and has extensive experience of advising sovereign states, international organisations and corporate clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious international trade law and public international law matters.

Daniel joined the team having completed an bachelor's degree in International History at the LSE and a bachelor's degree in Law at the University of Law. Whilst studying, he worked for a Member of Parliament as a researcher as well as for a UK political party.

  • Instructed by Secretary of State for FCO represented by the British High Commission, Ottawa and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to produce a detailed analysis of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Dan assisted with the key deliverable from this instruction, a comprehensive Business Opportunities Report which identifies opportunities for UK businesses emanating from CETA across many sectors
  • Acting on a long-term basis for an African central bank in relation to its public international law, international regulatory compliance /standards and public affairs needs
  • Assisting a UK manufacturer to develop a clear and usable internal policy document which can be used to export control obligations on a contract-by-contract basis
  • Advising a number of international financial institutions, manufacturers, trading houses and consultancy companies on the scope and application of measures restricting the supply of goods and services, financing and technical assistance in relation to jurisdictions such as Russia, Iran, Syria and Libya
