DLA Piper attorneys co-authored ABA book on Banking [on] Blockchain

DLA Piper proudly announces that Partner David Stier, Senior Financial Regulatory Attorney Emily Honsa Hicks, and Associate Eric Hall, who each have extensive experience in regulatory examinations, investigations and enforcement, recently contributed to the publication “Banking [on] Blockchain: A Legal and Regulatory Primer” (americanbar.org). The DLA team, which co-authored the Anti-Money Laundering chapter, also provided ongoing editorial support with respect to all contents of the publication.

This comprehensive guide, published by the American Bar Association, explores the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding blockchain technology, decentralization, and digital assets within the financial services industry. The AML/BSA Chapter co-authored by Stier, Honsa Hicks and Hall delves into various regulatory frameworks governing blockchain use in banking, covering anti-money laundering regulations and aims to shed light on the benefits and challenges of these technologies. Most critically, the chapter offers guidance for navigating the complex regulatory environment of BSA/AML compliance.

When not drafting cutting-edge thought leadership for publication, the attorneys comprising DLA Piper’s Blockchain and Digital Assets Group offer strategic advice to companies worldwide seeking to implement blockchain technology solutions or to create and deploy digital assets.
