DLA Piper advises H&M Group on corporate power purchase agreement in Poland
Global law firm DLA Piper has advised the H&M Group on a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with R.Power, a leading European solar developer and independent power producer, to provide 50 GWh of clean electricity annually from solar assets for H&M's operations in Poland and will be sourced from solar installations across the country. The deal secures clean power for H&M's stores, distribution centers and offices in Poland.
H&M Group has set ambitious goals to reduce the company’s absolute scope 1 and 2 emissions and its scope 3 emissions by 56% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline and to increase the annual sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030. As part of the company’s green investments, PPAs play a crucial role in achieving these targets.
Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources Sector and International Head of Sustainability and ESG at DLA Piper, added: "We are delighted to once again advise our longstanding client H&M Group on this significant solar corporate power purchase agreement in Poland. H&M Group continues to leverage PPAs to reach their renewable energy consumption goals and we are thrilled to support their ongoing decarbonization journey.”
