DLA Piper enhances its litigation and regulatory offering with the appointment of Chris Jessup as partner

DLA Piper has today announced the appointment of Chris Jessup as a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Regulatory practice, specialising in financial services regulation.

Chris joins DLA Piper from A&L Goodbody, where he was a partner and Co-Head of the FinTech Group, based in the firm’s Belfast office. As a highly experienced financial services (FS) regulatory lawyer, he will bring deep sector expertise, with a particular focus on advising global payment providers, to DLA Piper’s Ireland based and international clients when he joins in May 2025.

Chris has acted on behalf of a range of FS clients including banks, payment service providers and operators, investment firms, fund managers, FinTech firms, and other financial services institutions on matters related to UK and EU financial services regulation.

DLA Piper is the largest integrated law firm in the world by headcount and fourth largest by turnover, with lawyers in over 40 countries. The firm established its office in Ireland in 2019 and is now a team of 130+ people, including 20 partners and 12 legal directors.

Paul Hopman, Partner and Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Litigation and Regulatory practice, said: “Chris’s appointment is an excellent addition to DLA Piper’s global litigation and regulatory practice. He brings a strong level of financial expertise and a track record of helping clients navigate difficult FS challenges across jurisdictions. This appointment will be a great addition to our litigation and regulatory practice, both in Ireland and internationally.”

Caoimhe Clarkin, Head of Litigation and Regulatory, DLA Piper Ireland commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Chris to our growing financial services litigation team in Ireland. With extensive expertise in multi-jurisdictional financial regulation, he will play a key role in supporting our domestic and international clients through an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. Chris is not only an outstanding lawyer but also a great cultural fit as we expand our team with sector-focused partners.”
