DLA Piper Canada welcomes Partner Nikolas Blanchette

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that Nikolas Blanchette ‎has joined the firm as a ‎partner and ‎head of the Real Estate ‎Group in our Montreal office. ‎Nikolas practises real estate, commercial and ‎contract ‎litigation, including expropriations. He is a ‎seasoned ‎litigator, having pleaded before the Supreme ‎Court of ‎Canada, the Quebec Court of Appeal and trial ‎courts and ‎tribunals, including the Tribunal administratif du ‎Québec.‎

Nikolas has extensive experience with expropriation, ‎‎development and infrastructure, municipal taxation, ‎‎environmental regulations, commercial leasing, regulatory ‎‎and administrative issues, and municipal law. He has ‎‎distinguished himself over the course of several high-value ‎‎litigation disputes, expropriation ‎matters, and complex ‎‎transactions. ‎

Nikolas also provides strategic advice in commercial real ‎‎estate transactions in various asset classes. Clients value ‎‎his pragmatic approach to risk management, particularly in ‎‎complex transactions that include brownfields liability. ‎

With a deep understanding of real estate and expropriation ‎‎law, Nikolas frequently delivers lectures and conferences ‎on ‎the subject. He has authored over 30 publications in real ‎‎estate, contracts and expropriation, and is often cited by the ‎‎Québec ‎Courts. ‎
