DLA Piper advises UK Government on delivering The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla

A cross-practice DLA Piper team supported the UK Government’s Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) on arrangements in preparation for Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s Coronation.

The Coronation, which was the latest in a series of significant UK public events advised upon by the firm including COP26 and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, saw a team of DLA Piper lawyers work closely with DCMS and the Government Legal Department (GLD) to ensure the smooth running of the event. In anticipation of works being carried out in places such as Westminster Abbey, large crowds occupying public and private spaces and the area surrounding Buckingham Palace, a significant global media presence, and a wide array of contractor and volunteer organisation relationships and obligations to manage, the team worked over months to support in navigating the myriad of contracts, licensing arrangements, and risk mitigations involved.
